The European TrendChart on Innovation is an initiative of the European Commission, Enterprise & Industry Directorate General, Innovation Policy Development unit.

The Country Pages
provide easy access to all TrendChart products such as annual country reports, briefings, information on policy measures and Government decisions.

The European Innovation Scoreboard (EIS) measures innovation performances across the European Union. The full edition of the EIS 2006 is available on the INNO Metrics website. Previous EIS reports from 2002 up to and including the EIS 2005 are available on the TrendChart website. The EIS 2005 introduced a strengthened methodology and a revised list of 26 indicators. Previous EIS reports are also available.

The TrendChart workshops
offer the opportunity to compare and analyse in depth innovation policies and support schemes of the Member States. The workshops provide policy makers with the opportunity to embark on "intelligent benchmarking" taking into account the diversity of approaches and the differences in national context.

European Innovation Progress Report 2006
This report summarises the 2005 European Innovation Scoreboard results and identifies key challenges for innovation policy makers based on the EIS and the country reporting of the policy monitoring network. It then appraises how well national governments respond to these challenges by introducing or adapting appropriate policy measures. The report also comments on different innovation governance structures and highlights examples of good practice. A set of country briefs analysing national innovation challenges and policy responses completes the overview of the progress made in European innovation policy in the past year.
